ANALYSIS OF 2 FRONT COVERS
Masthead- The letter Q is significant as
the single-lettered Q was easy to remember and easy for people to recognise.
The
font throughout remains the same, but the colour changes depending on how
exclusive or bold the information is meant to be
Headline- These are trying to target
young followers with this headline as they are the most popular band of that
year.
Graphic Feature- This means that buyers
will have to read the rest of the magazine, so they know exactly what the quote
is talking about.
Central Image – The boy band Coldplay is
used as they’re attractive and who many people will follow as their music is
very popular.
Cover Lines- David Bowie and John Grant
are two other musicians which play different genres of music, this is so if you
don’t like the headline artist, the other musicians can also attract different
age ranges.
Subheading- This is the musicians
included in that weeks magazine as well as the main headline Madonna.
Cover Lines- This is an article in which
is secretive to that particular magazine, meaning customers have to buy it to
read it.
Puff- This is the date and price issued
in 1986
Central Image- Madonna is a young female
who is attractive, this means young girls aspire to be her and her lifestyle.
Headline-This metaphorically speaks as
though she is new however, she has changed her appearance and this will attract
global attention
Masthead- Rolling Stone which was found
in 1967 and name referred to 1950s blue song ‘Rollin Stone’
Cover lines- Van Halen and Robert Palmer are other famous musicians in which people can read about when purchasing an issue of Rolling Stone
At the time Madonna was at the peak, her style and popularity of music topped any modern day groups or artists. Her music was based around sex and she was favouritised by the younger generation in which shaped music into today. She was attractive and the full package at the time and throughout her generations, she changed her appearance to fit in with others.

Good analysis for Q magazine and a little more needed for Madonna magazine please. Details are very important and mis en scene need to be addressed.
